For over 35 years, Harvey has been exploring the phenomenology of light and colour, as a painter and creator of three-dimensional objects. Her public art projects range from site-specific paintings to large-scale architectural windows to kinetic sculptures. She has designed both temporary and permanent installations for exterior and interior environments, in Canada, the U.S., and Germany.
The urban environment offers a particularly inspiring opportunity to use colour on a massive scale, and within a context where bold hues and translucency offer compelling contrasts to the streetscape. Her works can be read as experiential enhancers, bringing warmth, playfulness, and an uplifting sense of celebration to passersby.
