The artist collaborated with a local designer, Atlas Design, to create a simple welded steel structure that can be taken on the road like a midway ride. The set-up is simple: a four-foot-deep hole in the ground is required with a steel sleeve embedded into concrete for support. The resultant Carousel has a 10-foot tall steel pole holding eight spokes which turn freely in the wind. Harvey decorated the 18-foot diameter structure with 40,000 linear feet of recycled baler twine. Solar-powered LED lights illuminate the spinning artwork at night. The Town of Stade, outside of Hamburg, Germany purchased the permanent installation for their 2013 Skulpturenpark exhibition curated by Rik Reinking and Andreas Schafer.
